1. What we collect

Account details (e.g. name and email), the memories, stories, and photos you choose to contribute, and basic usage needed to run the service. Email is required for public applications so we can confirm it's really you.

If you use the Memory Curator to help write a memory, we keep the whole conversation you have with it, not only the finished story.

2. How we use it

To operate Said of You: to authenticate you, deliver invites, compile albums, and contact you about your events. We don't sell your personal information.

3. AI processing

If you use the Memory Curator (the guided interview with Sam that helps you find the words), what you tell it does not stay only on our own server. Whenever you send a message in that interview, it is sent to OpenRouter, a routing service we use to reach an AI model, which selects and forwards it on to whichever language-model provider it is currently using, along with:

• your current title and story text
• your name and how you've described your relationship to the person you're writing about
• their name and the occasion
• up to two of the photos you've attached

This only happens if you choose the Memory Curator. Writing your memory straight into the story box, without the guided interview, never leaves this server.

Every one of these requests tells the routing service to stop the receiving provider from using your words to train its models, and rules out one specific provider, xAI, from ever handling them. We also ask for zero data retention: a routing option that asks the provider not to keep a copy of what it received once it has answered. We can only tell you what we asked for, not verify what the provider does with it on their own systems. Your text is used to help you in your own session only, and Sam has no access to other contributors' content. Any photo you upload also has its location and camera details stripped before we store it, whether or not you use the interview.

4. Access & security

Invite links are stored only as secure hashes, and your memories and photos are not public by default. The people who can read what you've written are:

• you, the person who wrote it
• the event's host, and any co-owner they've verified, who can read every memory in their event, including drafts you haven't submitted yet
• Said of You administrators, for support and to keep the platform safe
• if the host turns on the public keepsake link for their event (which needs no sign-in), anyone holding that link, but only for memories whose contributor has separately agreed to public sharing

A public keepsake link never exposes a memory you haven't agreed to share.

5. Retention & your choices

If you're signed in, you can download or delete your data from your account settings at any time. If you don't have an account, or would rather not use it, email [email protected] and we'll action the same request by hand.

Memories, stories, and photos stay on our systems for as long as your event exists, or until you delete them; we don't automatically expire them. If something is deleted, it can still exist in our encrypted, offsite backups for up to 30 days before it's gone from there too.

If you host an event, deleting your account also deletes that event and every memory anyone else wrote for it — we show you the exact numbers before you confirm, and point you to the data export first. If a co-owner remains and we can identify their account, ownership transfers to them and the event survives — though the memories you personally wrote for it are still removed.

Story-credit purchase and usage records are kept after deletion for accounting purposes, but with your email address replaced by an anonymous reference — the amounts, dates, pack size, and expiry stay; your email doesn't.
